Big Story Book Silly Silly
Duck and Mouse are arguing about who is the sillier. Mouse is convinced it is he, Duck believes it is she. So they take a bet - and the silliest will pay for dinner. Over dinner they recount their tales of the time when their silliness was nearly their downfall. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title. Editorial Reviews From School Library Journal PreSchool-K-After mouse burns their dinner, he and goose argue over who is the sillier. The two agree to eat out and whoever tells the silliest story will pay for the meal. The mouse's story involves himself, a self-serving rat, a hunk of cheese, and a menacing mousetrap. In the goose's tale, she succumbs to a flattering fox and is almost boiled alive. In both cases, the friends realize what is happening to them in the nick of time. The two animals agree on who will pay the bill, but there is a surprise twist at the end. The narrative is awkward in places, and the mouse's tale is told in a distracting dialect. However, readers will be left chuckling at the outcome. The story is told as much through Ross's boisterous illustrations as through the text. A silly book with two characters that will keep readers in stitches.
